1. Review of Election Preparations: Ban on Obscene Songs in Public Places
Patna: Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review law and order during Holi and Ramadan, along with election preparations. He directed that obscene songs must be completely banned in public places.
Additionally, he instructed strict monitoring of social media and the internet to prevent the circulation of obscene and provocative content. Strict action will be taken against those attempting to spread misinformation or disturb social harmony.
The meeting was attended by Home Department Secretary Arvind Chaudhary, Special Secretary Pranav Kumar, District Magistrates, Police Superintendents, and other officials. Authorities were instructed to increase vigilance in sensitive areas, closely monitor rumor-mongers, and organize peace committee meetings to promote communal harmony and brotherhood.
In view of Ramadan, special surveillance will be maintained at all mosques and sensitive locations.
2. Pension and Retirement Benefits Must Be Settled by March 17
Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena has directed all departments and divisions to submit an updated report on pending pension and retirement benefits cases by March 17.
He emphasized that departments have been continuously delaying the submission of information, even though they were previously instructed to send reports by the 15th of each month.
The Finance Department has taken this matter seriously and instructed timely pension payments. Officials were directed to ensure that all retiring employees receive their retirement benefits on the same day they retire.
Due to negligence by departments and circle offices, many retired employees are forced to wait months for their dues. In light of this, the Chief Secretary has issued strict orders to settle all pending cases by March 17.
3. Teachers’ Transfer Applications Under Review, Orders Expected Soon
Patna: The Bihar Education Department has completed the scrutiny of transfer applications for teachers suffering from cancer. Now, applications from 2,579 teachers suffering from severe illnesses are under review for their preferred transfers.
A total of 1,90,332 teachers have applied for transfers, categorized as follows:
- Teachers with disabilities – 5,575
- Teachers with autism or mental disorders – 1,557
- Widowed and seriously ill teachers – 2,579
A 16-member special committee has been formed to scrutinize these applications. The first phase of transfers took place on January 10, benefiting 35 cancer-affected teachers, followed by 187 more transfers.
The Education Department is expected to issue the final transfer orders after Holi.
4. Bihar Police to Recruit 19,838 Constables, Applications Open from March 18
Patna: Bihar Police has announced the recruitment of 19,838 new constables, with 6,717 positions reserved for women.
According to Jitendra Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment), applications will be accepted from March 18 to April 18. Interested candidates can apply at csbc.bihar.gov.in.
Additionally, the recruitment process for 21,391 constable positions was completed on March 10. Over 92 days, 1,07,079 candidates participated in the physical efficiency test.
This year, the Bihar government aims to fill around 65,000 vacancies across various departments, with police recruitment being one of the largest.
5. 11,925 Vacancies to Be Filled in Government Hospitals
Patna: The Bihar government has initiated the recruitment process for 11,925 healthcare positions under the Health Department.
According to Health Minister Mangal Pandey, these positions will be filled through the Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC).
Key vacancies include:
- Pharmacists – 2,473
- X-ray Technicians – 1,232
- ECG Technicians – 242
- Laboratory Technicians – 2,969
- Surgical Assistants – 1,683
- Dressers – 3,326
The government will soon release the official advertisement, allowing eligible candidates to apply.
6. Eggs Removed from Mid-Day Meal Due to Bird Flu Alert
Patna: In response to the bird flu outbreak, the distribution of eggs under the mid-day meal program in government schools has been temporarily halted.
Mid-Day Meal Scheme Director Sahila has issued directives to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Program Officers (DPOs) to enforce this restriction.
From now on, seasonal fruits like apples or bananas will be provided instead of eggs on Fridays. This decision follows an alert issued by the Central Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, urging states to take precautions against bird flu.
All district education officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with this directive until the bird flu threat subsides.
