New Rule for Bihar Assembly Elections: Maximum 1200 Voters per Polling Booth
New Delhi. The Election Commission has taken a major step to streamline the voting process and prevent delays in the final count. From now on, a maximum of 1200 voters will be allowed per polling booth. Earlier, this number was up to 1500. The Commission has directed all states to identify polling stations and ensure that voter numbers are limited accordingly.
This decision will be strictly implemented in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The Commission believes this will ensure timely completion of the voting process and early availability of final election results.
Currently, India has over 1 million polling stations. Many polling centers used to have a large number of voters, causing delays in the voting process and final result announcements. Even after voting hours ended, long queues remained at many polling stations. This new measure is expected to solve this problem and reduce voter waiting times.
During a recent conference of Chief Electoral Officers, political parties raised concerns about the delays caused by overcrowded polling booths. Following these discussions, the Election Commission issued new guidelines.
During the Lok Sabha elections, political parties also raised concerns about discrepancies in final voter turnout figures. The Election Commission has now made it clear that this rule will be strictly enforced, ensuring a transparent and time-bound voting process.
