CM Instructs Teachers to Teach Well, Bihar’s Government Teacher Count Reaches 5.80 Lakh
Patna – Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that the number of government teachers in Bihar has now reached 5.80 lakh. He urged all teachers to teach students well and focus on their development. Additionally, he instructed the Education Minister to ensure continuous monitoring of the teaching process.
The Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to newly appointed specialized teachers during a program held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, ‘Samvad,’ on Saturday. He congratulated the teachers and urged them to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and dedication.
Appointment Letters Issued to 59,028 Teachers Who Passed the Competency Exam
In the second phase of the competency exam, appointment letters were issued to 59,028 specialized teachers, including:
- 55,845 primary teachers
- 2,532 secondary teachers
- 651 higher secondary teachers
The Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to Neelam Kumari, Rustam Ali, Neelu Rai, Achyut Kumar, and Deepak Kumar Tiwari.
Five Opportunities for Contractual Teachers
The Chief Minister stated that separate exams were conducted for contractual teachers, providing them with five opportunities in total. In the first phase, 1,87,818 teachers passed, while in the second phase, 66,143 teachers were successful.
So far, a total of 2,53,961 contractual teachers have been converted into government teachers, while 86,000 teachers are still awaiting their competency exam results.
Total Government Teachers Reach 5.80 Lakh
The Chief Minister revealed that 2,17,272 teachers were recruited through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam, while 2,53,961 contractual teachers became government teachers through the competency exam.
Additionally, 66,800 teacher candidates and 42,918 headmaster candidates have cleared their exams and will soon receive their appointment letters. With this, the total number of government teachers in Bihar has reached 5,80,951.
NCERT Books to Be Introduced in Schools
Government schools will now use NCERT-based books for students in Class 6 and above. The SCERT has initiated the process of implementing these changes.
The Chief Minister stated that NCERT books would be beneficial for students preparing for competitive exams. Additionally, each school library will be equipped with a set of NCERT books for higher classes.
Education Minister to Monitor Teaching Standards
The Chief Minister urged all teachers to teach students with dedication and ensure that no obstacles hinder their education. He also directed the Education Minister to continuously monitor the quality of teaching in schools.
